A discussion was held on Friday, October 09, 2020 in Musanze, Northern Province, on the campaign against child sexual abuse and child labor.
The meeting was organized in collaboration with the Northern Province, World Vision Rwanda and The Rwanda Extractive Workers’ Union (REWU) Miners-REWU.
The meeting was chaired by the Governor of the Northern Province, Gatabazi Jean Marie Vianney, and was attended by the District leaders of this Province, the Police and the RIB at the Provincial and District Levels, the Executive Secretary of the Northern Province, among others.
The meeting aims to share information on child sexual abuse and their exploitation in the Northern Province and to take measures that will make the Province at the forefront of preventing and combating these problems.
Governor Gatabazi said, “In our decisions, we must plan every day as Leaders to keep in mind the Children of Rwanda, to protect them from being used in mines, Tea plantations, Sugarcane plantations, carrying heavy weights), and to protect them from sexual violence that that result in premature pregnancies.”
The issue of teenage pregnancies has been raised these days by various organizations, whether public or private.
